The 2012 Jupiters National DanceSport Championship

(Incorporating the 2012 Queensland Open)
Championship Regulations:
Please note the following conditions of entry:

  • The Beginner Individual events are only open to those who have won less than 3 events in that style.
  • The Open Individual events are open to those who have won 3 events in that style.
  • Individuals are not permitted to compete together.
  • Those partnering Individual competitors are asked to be suitably dressed.
  • Individuals are not to be partnered by people with level 0 qualifications.
  • Teacher/pupil events are for those people partnered by any person with level 0 qualifications.
  • Individual competitors are restricted to their level.
  • There are no restrictions on dress requirements for the Individual events.
  • All social events are restricted to social couples only and not individual competitors
  • Social Events are for those competitors who have never been registered
  • Level One competitors are permitted to dance up to Level Two; Level Two competitors are permitted to dance up to Level Three. Open Events are restricted to Level Three competitors and higher.
  • Level One (2) dance events will be run as two separate events.
  • Fewer than two (2) entries in an event; the event may be cancelled.
  • In the Youth/Adult/Masters Open events, the dance shown in brackets will only be danced in the final.
  • All Open events are restricted to level 3 and higher.
  • The Closed Queensland Championship is open to Queensland couples. Both members of the partnership must be currently residing in Queensland and be registered under DanceSport Queensland. This event is open to all grades.
  • Eligible Youth couples are permitted to compete in Adult Open events only (Not 10 Dance or Graded Events)
  • Masters One - both partners must be over the age of 35 years.
  • Masters Two - both partners must be over the age of 50 years.
  • Couples will not be issued with a back number unless a current registration card, for both members of the partnership is sighted. A refundable deposit of $5.00 will be charged on all back numbers. (To avoid delays on Saturday and Sunday, the registration table will be open on Friday for the duration of the practice session only)
  • Couples are asked to be in the marshalling area at least three events prior to their event.
  • Because of time constraints, the programme will not be held up to facilitate costume changes.
  • The 2012 Jupiters National DanceSport Championship (Incorporating the 2012 Queensland Open) is registered with and run in accordance with DanceSport Australia rules.
  • Couples, by entering this event, give their approval for the Event Organisers and their Contractors to take video and still images for the use of producing DVD’s; Live to Screenin venue; Broadcasting to Free to Air; Pay TV or Webcasting and any subsequent Promotional Material at this event or in the future. No time restriction applies.
  • Video licences will be available at the front door. This video licence is for personal use only and the use of video cameras is restricted to use during the day sessions only on both days. As DSQ is having a professional DVD produced for sale, videos are not allowed to be taken for Broadcasting to Free to Air; Pay TV or Webcasting.
  • Jupiters Gold Coast and DanceSport Queensland take no responsibility for any illness, accident or loss of property during the course of this event. 
  • AS PART OF OUR CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS, THE USE OF SPRAY TAN IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN ALL DRESSING ROOMS; TOILETS; ALL BALLROOMS AND THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP. REGULAR INSPECTIONS WILL BE UNDERTAKEN BY THE STAFF OF JUPITER'S HOTEL AND CASINO DURING THE DURATION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND ANY PERSON SEEN USING SPRAY TAN MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND ASSUME LIABILITY FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE.
  • Invigilators will be present at the Championship to ensure that DSA rulings are adhered to.
  • An Invigilator's role will be to monitor -RESTRICTED SYLLABUS - All level 1 Events & All Juvenile Events DRESS REGULATIONS - All level 1 Events (Junior - Masters 2 inclusive) & All Juvenile Events RESTRICTED HOLD COMPLIANCE - All New Vogue events excluding Open Youth, Open Adult and Open Masters 1 and 2 Events.

  • Parents, Studio Principals, Coaches: Please monitor your studio members to avoid underage drinking. Persons under 18 caught drinking or visiting the gaming areas of the Casino will be dealt with by the relevant authorities. Should any incidents occur, that involve registered competitors, DanceSport Queensland will act in accordance with DSA Constitution Guidelines.
